YOUR INSPIRATION

The inspiration for the shape came from the front pockets on the original. I loved the shape and saw them as a cross body bag immediately. I thought it was a fun twist on the original.

The fabric choice came from my love of natural fibres. I recently went to a wool festival and had wool and weaving on my mind, and have always loved the classic houndstooth pattern.

I thought using Australian wool was a good way of supporting Australian farming also, which is why my design should win

DETAILS & DIMENSIONS

The idea for a frame bag came from the small pockets on the front of the original button bag. The bag is a small to medium size at 25 centimetres in height and 23 centimetres in width, and is designed to be worn across the body. The strap is a double rolled style like on the original bag, but longer and thinner to work with the cross body style of this bag.

MATERIALS & HARDWARE

The main part is made from black leather with the frame covering and piping black patent leather. I added a front pocket, ideally made from woven Australian wool with a houndstooth pattern. Hardware is antique gold in colour as I like the softness of it against the black, rather than a bright gold.

The closure clasp and frame are the same as for a purse. The clasps on the strap are hinged and hook into rings attached to the hinged part of the frame.
